The normal death rule
When health hits zero in normal play:
- The character level you already earned stays.
- Finished stat ranks and the gear you are wearing stay.
- Every point of experience toward the next level is removed.
- You return to a town spawn on that floor.
- One story note also says uncompleted quest state can be lost. Kill-count quests are separately reported to reset on any logout, even without a death.
Permanent Death is a mode you choose. In that mode, death deletes the character. Do not practice parries on that character.
How to heal before Vitality 5
- Stand inside a town safe zone such as the Town of Beginnings and wait.
- Eat Grilled Boar Steak for 150 health.
- Drink a Feeble or other healing potion from the potion stand. Sheath with Q if the drink is refused while the weapon is out. R is the usual first quick slot.
- Clear bleeding, poison, or paralysis with the matching remedy. T is described as the blood-loss slot.
After Vitality 5, read your own skill text. Sources call that rank either in-combat Battle Healing (0.5% max health every 2 seconds, stopping at 75%) or an out-of-combat regen. Full health still needs town, food, or a potion if the cap is 75%.
What to do when the bar is almost full
If the next level is close, leave the pack, sheath if required, and heal before the next hit. A death at 90% of a level is more expensive than a death at 5%. Dungeon halls do not provide the town regen, so drink before you pull the next Kobold.
Player killing is off in the Floor 1 boss room and on in the Floor 2 and Floor 3 boss rooms. Field monsters are still the more common way to lose a level bar.
